Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) has Links to Childhood Trauma

“BPD is often a debilitating mental heath problem that makes it hard for someone a control their emotions and impulses. Some of the characteristics of this condition -such as experiencing extreme, overwhelming emotions over what might be seen to others as a minor issue - are common, but become chronic and exaggerated after childhood trauma.”

We encounter BPD often as we go about our daily business. BPD is especially prevalent in litigated conflict. When we remember that people who exhibit extreme emotional reactions to things that most people view as minor events, our reactions can be more informed and effective, deescalating what might otherwise spin out of control.
